An interactive online map configurator with extensive additional information

THE CHALLENGE

alpinemap.it enables (tourism) website operators to create interactive maps of South Tyrol, enrich them with a lot of additional information and their own data and integrate them into their websites and applications.

Map configurator

The ALPINEMAP.IT configurator has exceptionally good usability to make the configuration process as easy as possible for the end customer. It is easy to use even without deep technical knowledge.

It is created in the simplest way in just three steps:

Select regions in South Tyrol
Define desired tours and POIs
Adjust display and map settings

Mashup of existing and new data

alpinemap.it is a web app that, on the one hand, provides access to the existing sentres database and on the other hand allows you to create your own content.

For example, the database provides information on tours and points of interest (POI) in South Tyrol, each with a variety of sub-categories:

lodgings
Summer and winter activities
Experience
Eat & drink
Wine & delicatessen
spectacles
infos

These existing categories can be extended, or you can create a completely separate category. Any content created and selected in this way can be displayed on individual maps.

For the created maps, it is possible to specify in fine-grained terms which content should be displayed and how. In addition, a convenient editor allows you to adjust the appearance and size of the entire map so that it fits exactly the website or application in which the map is to be embedded.

Integration into own website or application

After completing the configuration, the user receives a simple HTML snippet, which must be integrated into the desired page. This ensures that all necessary scripts are loaded so that the desired map can be displayed and used.

Access management via REST API

alpinemap.it offers a central interface through which the end customer can access their data. This is implemented as a REST API that every end customer has access to and can use to integrate the content on their website or mobile application without using a card.

Single page app

The complete alpinemap.it web application is implemented as a single page application. This is a basic requirement in order to be able to guarantee a high level of usability during operation - especially in the map creation process.
